Overview

Gem Memories ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising. Your photos and voice notes are used solely to provide the Gem Memories service to you.

Information We Collect

Account Information

Email address and password (if you create an account)
Anonymous user ID (if you use the app as a guest)

Content You Create

Photos you select from your library or capture with the camera
Voice recordings you attach to memories
Timestamps of when memories were created

Device & Technical Data

Device type and iOS version (for crash reporting and compatibility)
App session data used to improve performance

We do not collect or access: your contacts, location, Health app data, browsing history, or any data unrelated to your memories.

Data Storage & Security

Your photos and voice recordings are stored in Google Firebase Cloud Storage, encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest.
Access to your data is restricted to your authenticated user account only via Firestore Security Rules.
No one — including us — can read your memories without your credentials.
A local cache is stored on your device for offline access.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account (via Settings → Delete Account in the app), all associated data — photos, voice notes, and account information — is permanently deleted within 30 days.

Guest (anonymous) users who uninstall the app without creating an account will lose access to their memories, as there is no email associated with the session for recovery.

Permissions

All permissions are optional. You can deny any permission and use the remaining features. Permissions can be changed at any time in iOS Settings → Gem Memories.

Children's Privacy

Gem Memories is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Delete your account and all associated memories via Settings in the app
Export your data — contact us to request a copy
Withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Gem Memories after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
